QUEENS BADGES – 1ST NEW PITSLIGOQUEENS BADGES – 1ST NEW PITSLIGO

The President and Executive of the Buchan Battalion send their congratulations to Connor and Brandon Mowat, twin brothers, who were presented with their Queen’s Badge on Friday evening. As remarked on Friday, both brothers far exceeded the requirements for the badge.

It was a ‘proud mam’ moment for Company Captain Elaine Michie too, who was chosen by the twins to present them with their badges – the highest award in the Boys’ Brigade.

In his remarks as Inspecting Officer the Queen’s Badge Advisor noted that these Queen’s Badges were historic for two reasons. First, it is understood that Connor and Brandon are the very first Queen’s Men of the 1st New Pitsligo Company. In the same breath, if the award changes with the new reign as anticipated, the twins will be the last in the Buchan Battalion to be presented with a Queen’s Badge.

Well done Connor and Brandon! The 1st New Pitsligo is a Company with a very bright future!

A reminder that all recipients of the Queen’s and President’s Badges are invited to attend this celebration which should see representation from 1st Fraserburgh, 4th & 5th Fraserburgh, 1st New Pitsligo, 1st Rosehearty, 4th Peterhead and 1st Strichen.

All Officers from across the Battalion are invited to attend but numbers must be forwarded to the Battalion Secretary for catering provisions.

STUART PRATT 1952-2022STUART PRATT 1952-2022

The President, Executive and all in the Buchan Battalion have been extremely saddened to learn of the death of Stuart Pratt.

Ex-Captain Pratt gave 45 years service to the 1st New Pitsligo Company, only retiring from the Company earlier this summer.

A long-time Captain of the Company, Stuart started volunteering with the then minister Rev. Ralph for 2 years from 1977 before becoming an officer in 1979.

Last year Stuart took the decision to step down from the captaincy of the Company after a considerable number of years as Skipper. On stepping down Stuart continued with the Junior Section.

Just a few weeks ago we reported that Aberdeenshire Council had recognised his 45 year voluntary service with the BB with a Pride of Buchan Award.

The President and Executive send their condolences to Stuart’s wider family as well as to his BB family at the 1st New Pitsligo.
