This evening the 1st Rosehearty hosted the Battalion’s first ever Uno competition which was attended by 1st New Pitsligo, 1st Rosehearty, 1st Sandhaven and 1st Strichen!

All boys had a great night with lots of laughter. It was also great to see the #140Baton from the North Scottish make a special appearance! It was a close run competition with a run off for 1st Place! Medals and certificates were presented by Lynne Bruce, Chair of the Anchors Committee.

Individual winners:

1st Place: Thomas (1st Strichen)

2nd Place: Ollie (1st Rosehearty)

3rd Place: Alfie (1st Rosehearty)

Company Points were as follows:

1st Strichen – 3 Points

1st Rosehearty – 2 Points

1st New Pitsligo – 1 point

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY – FRASERBURGH DISTRICTREMEMBRANCE SUNDAY – FRASERBURGH DISTRICT

Companies in the old Fraserburgh District of the Buchan Battalion are invited to attend the Fraserburgh Remembrance Sunday Parade and Church Service.

This will take place on Sunday, 12th November. Boys and Girls should meet at the Fraserburgh Royal British Legion (Hanover Street) for 10am, the parade leaving at 10.15am for the Old Parish Church.

The service is expected to take about an hour (10.55am-12pm), after which the parade will march to the war memorial for a wreath laying ceremony. After this the parade will then return to the Legion building for approximately 12.45pm.

The Companies of the old Fraserburgh District include 1st, 4th, 5th Fraserburgh, 1st Sandhaven and 1st Rosehearty. Companies are parading under Battalion colours.

We look forward to seeing you on the 12th November.

Companies who normally attend commemorations at their own villages are encouraged to do so again this year, if commemorations are proceeding.

Well done to Martin Dunbar, Captain of 4th & 5th Fraserburgh, who this evening is in London celebrating 140 years of the Boys’ Brigade!
He can be seen in the photo with Speaker Lindsay Hoyle in the State Rooms, The Speaker’s House, at the House of Commons.
It must be great to know your work is appreciated by the Boys’ Brigade! It certainly is by us folk in Buchan!

An information session will be held for prospective Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates at Strichen Kirk on 16th November.

Captains/ Company OICs, parents and Boys/Girls are invited to attend to get details of the Bronze and Silver programme running this year.

Candidates will be signed up at this meeting and agree upon their volunteering, physical and interest aspects of the award.

The Bronze award generally runs along with President’s Badge candidates and the silver level with King’s/Queen’s Badge candidates. This, however, is only a general rule.
